The Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra was established in 1962. This is one of the oldest chamber orchestras in the world. Their first concert had attracted the utmost interest. Soon after that, they started their triumphal way throughout the world 45 years-Europe, North America (10 tours), South America, Japan (13 tours), Australia, Korea, China, South-East Asia etc.
The first 16 years conductor was Vasil Kazandjiev. He focused on accumulation of various repertoire. Between 1978 and 1987 conductor of the orchestra was Emil Tabakov. He enlarged repertoire, new instruments were included and the style was improved. From 1988 the conductor of Sofia Soloists is Plamen Djurov.

  The Sofia Soloists are winners of first prizes from the major festivals in France and Germany, Zagreb and Ljibljana, San Sebastian and Santander(Spain), Louvain (Belgium), Bergen (Norway).The ensemble has collaborated with world famous artists like Heinz Holiger, Danail Shafran, Henrik Shering,Nicanor Zabaletta,Yfrah Neaman, Patrick Galois, Nigel Kennedy etc. The Sofia Soloists have earned the recognition of the critics for the preciseness of performances, for the unique sound , richly nuanced melody and originally interpretation. The ensemble play varied music-from the Baroque to the contemporary music and has more than 600 works in the repertoire .

The Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov"-Sofia was founded in 1956. It's known as "the full-time Academic Orchestra". In 2002 it has been renamed to Academic Symphony Orchestra /ASO/ with a decision of the Rector council. Its distant predecessor was the same named staff, founded by the great Bulgarian musician - Prof. Sasha Popov - in 1928 - that was the First Bulgarian Professional Symphony Orchestra. On this basis later arose the prestigious King's Military Symphony Orchestra - the foundation of today's Sofia Philharmonic.

Outstanding is the contribution of the Academic Symphony Orchestra to the devolvement of the contemporary Bulgarian music. In short time after its foundation the Orchestra becomes a Concert staff with many different performances and activities. The ASO today is an original lab for student's tuition - for instrumentalists, singers and conductors. It take part completely in the School Operatic Theater performances, presents new works by young students - composers, it is a permanent participant at the Piano Competitions "Albert Roussel" and "Seiler", too.

Besides is the ASO a high-professional ensemble for concert activity in the Academy of Music and outside. Constant are the weekly's Orchestra performances, which take part every Friday in the Academic Big Hall. Till now, its number is more than 1500. We could say, there is no Bulgarian Academic graduate, who didn't use the help of the ASO, who didn't meet for first time the symphony sound and atmosphere namely associating with .

The great repertoire of ASO comprises master works by practically all musical genres and styles. The Orchestra's repertoire consists mainly of Baroque and Classical works, but also of contemporary music, where an important place is occupied for Bulgarian composers. Its respect and submission to the achievements of the Bulgarian culture ASO proved through numerous celebrating and anniversary performances , dedicated to our outstanding composers, instrumentalists and pedagogues. Since the foundation of ASO many famous Bulgarian conductors have joined it - basically Konstantin lliev, Vladi Simeonov, Vasil Kazandjiev, Ivan Vulpe, Ivan Marinov.

The BGFO carries on in the tradition of orchestral festivals initiated by the famed maestro Emil Tchakarov. They have participated in the great festivals of Lucerne, Switzerland; Besancon, France; Montreau and Rimini. They have also bequeathed to posterity an ample and diverse collection of recordings of opera and symphonic works of the highest professional and artistic caliber.
Over the past few years one of the more important events in Bulgaria cultural life is the New Year Festival that brings together the finest musicians and soloists from all over the world.

The BGFO has among its members the leaders and principal musicians from the Bulgarian National orchestras: Sofia Soloists, Sofia National Philharmonic, National Opera,Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra. We assemble a full orchestra when needed for big projects like: recordings of classical and film music, symphony concerts, opera performances etc. The orchestra is very flexible-from only fourteen to one-hundred musicians-depending of the project.
Why is this attractive? On this way, the costumer does not have to pay the high taxes required by national orchestras. In the BGFO we usually work with guest conductors and soloists.

The Sofia Ladies Chamber Orchestra is integrated by a team of young professionals, highly motivated to work with this genre of music. The first chairs are filled by some the principal members of Europe's greatest orchestras.
       This orchestra is composed entirely of young women, who share the ambition of offering to the public not only classical music but also a repertoire of genres such as jazz, old standards, pop, Latin music, as well as performances for television and radio.
       The SLCO is a model of Salon Orchestra: the orchestra play without conductor and leader is the concertmaster. The concertmaster of  the SLCO is both concertmaster of The Sofia National Philharmonic.
       The trump of the ensemble is not only their professionalism, but the thing which distinguishes this orchestra is beauty, charm and elegance of the artists. For the past few years they have held regular seasons performing concerts in Sofia   and throughout the interior of the country. Season 2006-2007 includes tours to Spain and France. At this time they are developing two interesting projects:
- The first of these is entitled "The Dance Music throughout the Centuries", illustrating the history of dance music from the gavotte, minuet and waltz to tango and flamenco.
- The second project is titled "The Passion of Tango", or "Latin Nostalgia" which will present the most outstanding works in this genre with emphasis on the best known works by Astor Piazzolla. Since 1972 the orchestra conductor is Rositza Batalova.

The members of this orchestra are musicians of the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, with a specially selected wind section. The orchestra has participated in the famed festival of Bayreuth, Germany with the operas "Betulia Liberata" and "La Clemenza de Tito" by Mozart. At the Music Week Festival in Sofia they presented Gluck's "Orpheus and Eurydice" and Benjamin Britten's "The Turn of the Screw". The orchestra is quite mobile and so especially adequate for smaller operatic stages.
